Hex nuts are the most common form of nut used to securely hold a threaded fastener in place. Grade 8.8 hex nuts are made from quenched and tempered medium carbon steel and have a minimum tensile strength of 120,000 PSI. Zinc plating provides moderate corrosion resistance.
