Nylon insert locking nuts are hex nuts with a nylon collar insert that impedes turning which is why they are commonly called elastic stop nuts. Grade 8.8 nylon insert locking nuts are made from quenched and tempered medium carbon zinc plated steel, comparable to imperial Grade 5.
